KITCHEN COUNTER TOP MATERIAL- emerging trends

KITCHEN COUNTER TOP MATERIAL- emerging trends

Selection of right material contributes significantly in enhancing the aesthetics of the kitchen. Kitchen top not only needs to look beautiful, it should also have adequate strength to withstand the wear & tear caused due to everyday use. Ideally the stone whether it is natural or engineered, needs to be non porous, durable, easily maintainable, stain & chemical resistant.

In this blog we are discussing 4 different materials that can be used for kitchen top.

1.   Granite Stone :

Granite is a natural stone with very high durability and it is available in multiple colours. It is recommended for Kitchen , Bathroom counters and can be used at any heavy duty requirement. Some of the commonly used granite stone pictures are as follows :

2.   Quartz:

Quartz is highly durable engineered stone. It is non porous & moisture resistant material. It can be buffed /polished if any scratches develop after long use. Available in multiple colours.

3.   G5 (nano white / glass white ) :

In the recent time many people look for white countertops. Sometimes they look for white counter top & white backsplash. G5 is a synthetic glossy material available only in white colour. The material is very hard and therefore needs skilled people for installation and cutting holes for sink & burner.

4.   Du Pont Corian:

It is also known as Acrylic solid surface. One of the finest quality of Corian is that it can be bend seamlessly. It is available in multiple shades. It may catch spots but can be buffed. Due to heat emanating from vessels, it may develop spot, therefore needs care in handling.

WHAT SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR KITCHEN COUNTER :

Marble:

As far as possible marble counter tops should be avoided. Marble is a porous stone & therefore susceptible to stains.
